Professor Chin’s current research interests include minority rights, elections, democratisation and good governance issues. He deals mainly with ASEAN countries (especially Malaysia, Brunei and Singapore) and the South Pacific Rim (especially Papua New Guinea, Fiji and Solomon Islands). He used to be a financial journalist in Singapore. Prior to his appointment at Monash, he was head of a business school and director of a research institute.
