Postgraduate Research Conference Subsidy

POSTGRADUATE RESEARCH CONFERENCE SUBSIDY

GUIDELINES

Instructions to candidates :
(1) The Postgraduate Research Conference Subsidy Application form must be submitted to the School Research Office (SRO) six (6) weeks before paying of the conference registration fee, flight and accommodation.
(2) Applications will NOT be considered retrospectively and will be rejected.
(3) No candidate will receive more in total than the maximum amount of conference subsidies (supported with receipts).

Postgraduate Research Conference Subsidy (within Malaysia, Southeast Asia, Asia (excluding East Asia) and outside Asia)
Conference subsidy assist with the expenses of doctoral and research masters candidates who wish to present at least one paper in well-established and high impact international/national conferences during the period of their candidature. The candidate should show evidence that these conferences are strategically chosen to allow networking with established scholars in their field of study; and offer high possibility of publication outcome of their paper whether in the form of conference proceedings, book chapters or journal articles.

THE PRIORITY OF CONFERENCE EXPENSES IS TO COVER AIRFARE, ACCOMMODATION AND REGISTRATION FEES.

Eligibility to attend a conference (within Malaysia, Southeast Asia, Asia (excluding East Asia) and outside Asia)
To be eligible the applicant must:

be currently enrolled, either as a doctoral or Masters (100% research) candidate at School of Arts & Social Sciences, Monash University Sunway campus and have completed the confirmation of candidature process;
be presenting a paper at a conference;
be principal author of the paper being presented, which must cover original, ongoing research, be largely the postgraduate’s own work, report recent findings and be directly related to the applicant’s thesis topic.

Ineligible

A candidate who is on intermission from candidature for the period of the proposed conference is ineligible;
Candidates who have not completed the confirmation of candidature process;
Candidates who have submitted their thesis for examination;
Candidates who have attended more than one (1) conference per year in regardless of the regions.

Maximum Value of a Subsidy

RM1,500.00 per candidate for 2013 only.

*Subject to annual budget approval.

Applications

Applicants are required to complete the Postgraduate Research Conference Subsidy Application Form and submit to the School Research Office (SRO).

The completed application form will be forwarded by SRO to the School HDR Committee (SHDRC) for their review and approval (for special cases only).
