August Intake

The August intake has been introduced to cater for northern hemisphere programs students and international students who are unable to meet the July intake deadline.  Courses from the School of Arts and Social Sciences available for the August intake are:

·         Bachelor of Arts

·         Bachelor of Arts (Global)

·         Bachelor of Communication

Students commencing in August will begin their course by enrolling in two Arts core units and proceed to take up two Business elective units in the Summer Semester.

The two Arts core units offered in August semester are:

·         COM1020: Introduction to Communication Studies

·         INT1020: Contemporary Worlds 2

 The two specified Business elective units offered in Summer semester are:

·         MKW1120: Marketing Theory and Practice

·         MGW1010: Introduction to Management

 This program of study would ensure the possibility of students completing their course in 3 years (except for students with Psychology major), provided students commencing in August progress well throughout the course without any failure of units. It should be noted that there is no selection of units for August intake and summer semester other than the Arts and Business units listed above.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  1. Students with Psychology major are not encouraged to commence in the August intake. However, should you decided to commence in August, you are required to spend 7 semesters (i.e. 3.5 years) to complete your Arts degree.

  2. August intake does not apply to students with credit transfers.

  3. August intake students are unable to study a second major (equivalent) from another faculty.

  4. In general, a maximum of 60 points (10 units including core and elective) of first year subjects may be counted towards the degree.
