The film line-up:

2)  South of South by Tan Chui Mui (10 mins) - Set in 1984 Kuantan when Vietnamese refugees were fleeing to the shores of Malaysia’s East Coast, the film is about Chinese diasporas and how centuries of war and famine has made eating a ritual.

3) Checkpoint by Amir Muhammad (7 mins) - A short featuring the perils of cheap traveling post 9/11.

4)  I AM by Sheril A. Bustaman (20 mins) - The search for her birth parents lead Amirah Mei Ling Muhammad Lee to finding more than she bargained for.

As part of the hosting arrangements, the students will be housed at UPV Balay Ilongo and Gender Building. They will be joined by five UPV student guides: Peter Glen Rapiz, Lucille Ann Octavio, Zherluck Rodriguez, Paolo Javier and Noraisa Sintal. Prof. Melanie Padilla at Center for West Visayan Studies will serve as resource person on local culture and heritage.

In Search of Iloilo is the first institutionalized foreign study visit hosted by UP Visayas. It was proposed and negotiated by Dr. Rosalie Arcala Hall, Chair of the Division of Social Sciences, UPV Miagao as a template for UPV’s internationalization.
